About Me
Growing up, I was always fascinated with movies, television and video games. Not just in a usual sit-on-butt pretty-flashing-pictures capacity(although sometimes I did do that), but a real fascination for the characters that were created and the way their stories were told. When I watched the "making-of" of The Matrix and saw the people who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the amazing visuals, I knew I wanted to do the same. When I watched Finding Nemo and Dory's heartfelt plea to Marlin at the end brought tears to my eyes, I knew I wanted to be an animator.
Unfortunately growing up in Iowa didn't allow me a lot of opportunities to pursue that kind of a career, so I ended up taking as many computer classes as possible in the hope that I would eventually find my way to computer animation. What I found was an interest in programming and in 2008, I graduated from the University of Iowa with a dual Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Studio Art.
During my Junior year at the University, I began working as a web designer and programmer, but quickly realized I had not quite given up on my dream of becoming an animator and in September 2008, I began attending Vancouver Film School. A year later, I graduated from VFS with my first short film, Rain Crowds. Rain Crowds was chosen as one of the Top 100 Films of the 2010 YoungCuts Film Festival and screened at the 2010 Tiburon International Film Festival.
These days, I continue to follow my passion for storytelling and bringing characters to life. I'm constantly on working on ideas and learning new things. And as a dedicated pop-culture addict, you can usually find me hanging around online talking about the newest developments in movies, video games, technology and everything else that inspires me.
